I can't do this or contribute to this myself. I can barely get a python script or PHP page working.

#Realtek wifi drivers on freebsd driver#
Have you checked the status on the freebsd-arm list and offered your time to assist porting the driver to the FreeBSD ABI, assessing the suitability of the code for that or another related activity? Will the Broadcom BCM43438 driver be supported in the final release of FreeBSD 13? Because I absolutely hate being tied to linux if I want to tinker with my RPIs. My Zero is a complete non-starter without wifi. I'd be using FreeBSD on all three of my RPI3s if they didn't need to be cabled to the network (no, I won't pay for ANOTHER wifi dongle when the Pi has a perfectly functional wifi chip). The RPI is currently tier 2, but it could potentially become tier 1 if it had basic hardware support for the wifi. The work has basically been done, but that last 5% hasn't been completed! It also said that Broadcom wifi driver development "is still in progress and expected to complete later" in 2019. The RPI's BCM43438 driver is open source, the linux driver is on github, and even OpenBSD has rudimentary support.Īlmost two years ago, the April-June 2019 Status report announced that SDIO support was completed in early 2019 and submitted to head. The RPI is a popular piece of hardware, and most of the development towards supporting wifi has already been completed. The lack of Broadcom wifi driver support for the RPI is bizarre.
